The Life and Spiritual Journey of St. Therese
Shalom Prayer Center, a ministry of the Benedictine Sisters, offers "Saint Therese of Lisieux: Her Life and Spiritual Journey," a workshop to be held on March 3, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The development of Therese's Little Way will be discussed through an in-depth look at her autobiograph, The Story of a Soul. Therese's life from early childhood to her death at the age of 24 from tuberculosis will be reviewed, with particular attention to how she struggled to define her vocation, how she developed her spirituality, and her encounter with the silence of God and her night of faith. Finally, we will look at how Therese gave spiritual direction to missionaries.
The presenter is Dennis Rose, who has been a catechist and religious education presenter since 1970. Mr. Rose currently works in adult faith formation for two Catholic parishes, and gives talks to adult groups on scripture and the life of St. Therese. He is also a frequent visitor to Shalom, a graduate of Shalom's spiritual direction program, and a monthly participant in Shalom's Book Talk program.
The workshop fee is $50, but those registering by February 20 can earn a 30% discount and pay only $35. Lunch may be brought, or purchased at Shalom for $6.50.
